Basic plot line.
Jerry Elliott High Eagle is born in Oklahoma - the place where the remnant of his people were left at the end of the Trail of Tears.
He suffers prejudice and disrespect as he journeys towards his destiny - a vision God has given him - that he will help man land on the moon.
As the first rocket scientist of Native American heritage ever hired at NASA, he fulfills his destiny (even receiving a Presidential Medal of Freedom for helping save the Apollo 13 crew from disaster) before going on to reopen the eyes of White America to the existence of First Nation people - by writing the legislation for Native American Awareness Week, which we celebrate to this day.
Labeled at a young age by a system quick to write off people of color, Tony hopes to spare others the unnecessary obstacles he faced. An animated short about the power that narrative holds to oppress or liberate. This award-winning short film is now available to view here!
This film explores the vision and priorities of construction company owner Jeff Moreland as he embarks on the biggest public contract ever awarded to a minority owned construction company in the state of Oregon. We also hear from one of his employees on her experiences as a minority in the male-dominated construction industry.

After meeting Jeff in a weekly men’s group for racial reconciliation, Sebastian chose his company Raimore to become the subject of this short film.
Native activist and thought leader Mark Charles tells a metaphorical story composed to express the feeling of being Native American and adjust the posture and heart of dominant culture towards Native peoples.

Pushed out of the inner city by rising costs and economic development, minority families increasingly settle in outer Portland and Gresham. “HOLLA” chronicles the organization of the same name, founded by Pastor Eric Knox to mentor kids of color in predominantly white and white-taught schools.
Featuring straight talk from notable intellectuals Robert Munoz (Portland State University) and Dyan Watson (Lewis & Clark College), as well as raw testimonials from mentors and mentees, “HOLLA” is an informative, humorous, and heartbreaking look at the issues that face our city and our nation, as we struggle to fulfill the promise of integration and equal opportunity.
The film explores the lives of three young women on the HOLLA basketball team, as mentorship subtly transforms their experience. Through tough love and tenderness the kids learn to hurdle obstacles and adversity in a system biased against them. But learning is a two-way street — the viewer also sees the educators and mentors in the organization changing and growing through their work.
“Holla” features select tracks from Portland’s nationally recognized music scene, including songs from Tre Hardson (Pharcyde), rising star Liz Vice, Catherine Feeny & Chris Johnedis and the band Jospeh.

In 2017, with racial tensions in Virginia reaching fever pitch, a reconciliation ministry in Richmond struggles to raise up a new generation of leaders equipped to end the legacy of Church segregation in America. But with such a diversity of backgrounds, beliefs and experiences, could this group of young musicians really mean hope for America's most segregated hour?
Premiere April 8, 2pm. Byrd Theatre, Richmond, Va.
This four part film series was made to accompany the book Love In A Time Of Fear by author Cassie Hillman Trentaz
The films are designed to give those being misrepresented or marginalized within our current sociopolitical climate, a chance to speak for themselves. They intend to explore the subject's whole person rather than reducing them to a set of issues. This gives the viewer an opportunity to spend some time getting to know someone, that due to the divisions in our society, they might not have a chance to connect with in person.
A 7 part film series based on the book Rethinking Incarceration by author Dominique Gilliard. The series can be found (along with a free accompanying small-group written curriculum produced by PVPDX) at walkingtowardslove.com
No matter what the emergency service, first responders are more likely to die by their own hand than in the most dangerous jobs of our society. Watch this teaser for The Ghosts They Carry, a documentary examining the hidden crisis of first responder suicide and advocating for life-saving solutions.

Meet Cici Green! This film, made for ElevateOregon.org represents a proof of concept for PVPDX.
Based on our philosophy of empowering marginalized voices, we asked the question “what if we made a promotional film in which voices from the organization where entirely silenced, giving voice only to a member of the community being served by the organization?”
Elevate showed us a great deal of trust in allowing this experiment and were rewarded with a highly effective fund-raising video!
